On Sunday we trekked to Oberammergau, it is the home of a Passion Play, not just any Passion Play but one where the large group in community is apart of. It contains about a 1000 volks of that village( there is more to see so check the link) needless to say I was inspired some paintings and some few sketches. They are all types of artwork of Jesus all over the village mostly a Bavarian ideal of Jesus but still very cool, so here are some of my painterly creations, more of a style I am comfortable with, it does allow the viewer to fill in the blanks, and I make the attempt to color to provide mood.

The town's residents vowed that if God spared them from the effects of the bubonic plague ravaging the region, they would produce a play every ten years thereafter for all time depicting the life and death of Jesus. The death rate among adults rose from one in October 1632 to twenty in the month of March 1633. The adult death rate slowly subsided to one in the month of July 1633. The villagers believed they were spared after they kept their part of the vow when the play was first performed in 1634. The most recent performances took place in 2000 and a season of 102 performances is presently taking place from Saturday, May 15 until Sunday, October 3, 2010.

I spent about 5 minutes re-reading the post looking for stuff about Jars of Clay (thinking you saw the band over there or something), only to realize that I was staring a portrait of clay jars. Nice work!
